Thank you!

Thank you to the Brother Knights and families attending Tuesday's Dinner and Awards Ceremony.  I believe everyone enjoyed the evening.  The food was delicious and the time spent recalling what had taken place during the year was memorable as we were able to recognize those that had taken on leadership roles for one of more activities.  As we discussed - we would have been there all night if we awarded Knights for all they do throughout the year for the church and community so we only touched on some high points; however, please know that whatever you assisted with was important and appreciated.  A special thanks to DGK Johnny Burkett and wife Pauline for their help with the event.

I know it is a busy time of year and not all were able to make the ceremony so we will plan to distribute the remaining awards at an upcoming meeting and then list all those recognized for record.

Thank you again for all you do!

Thank you!  Thank you!!

Thanks to the Brother Knights able to make Saturday's Mass and Prayer Breakfast.  We had a nice time of reflection and were able to learn more about our KofC founder Father Michael J. McGivney while celebrating his birthday.  What a great example he set for us all.  From the moment he launched the KofC, the organization fortified Catholics in their faith, offered them ways to greater financial security and strengthened them in self-esteem.

"In fidelity to the vision of Father McGivney, may you continue to seek new ways of being a leaven of the Gospel in the world and a spiritual force for the renewal of the Church in holiness, unity and truth."

Pope John Paul II

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY REMINDER

The Special Olympics Regional Aquatics Competition is coming up next month, Saturday, September, 9th at the Don Cook Natatorium 16403 Lexington Blvd. Its next to Mercer Stadium and behind First Colony Mall. They would like us there at 7:45 AM and the day ends at 3:00 PM. In previous years, Council #14617 provided lunch for everyone and hopefully they will be able to do that again this year. I am sure that they would appreciate some help to cover the cost though. It's not much. We bring in multiple trays of chicken nuggets from Chick Fil a.

We normally have 35 or 40 volunteers there and they need every one of us and could actually use some more help. Some folks stay all day but your adrenalin sort of runs out by 3:00 PM. It would be nice if some could come early and some could come later so all shifts are covered.

They are in particular need of certified life guards, so if you have kids or grandkids who can fill one of those slots let me know so they can be signed up at those specific needs. The rest of us don't need any training or certification, just the ability to smile and give out hundreds of High-fives!

Thanks,
Ron Frerich
District Deputy, District #76

SAVE THE DATE

The next 4th Degree Exemplification will be on Saturday, October 14th at St. Francis De Sales Church in Houston. If you know of anyone interested in joining the 4th Degree at this upcoming exemplification, we need to have their completed Form 4 as soon as possible so we can present their application for approval at our September meeting.  Sometimes a Brother Knight doesn't know much about the 4th Degree or just needs to be asked to join.  Make the effort to ask a 3rd Degree Brother Knight in your Council to join you in the 4th Degree.
