Thanks for your Service
Thanks to the Knights who assisted in the Adopt-A-Highway litter pick up on Sat, Nov 14th.  In attendance were Brothers PGK Tony Trevino(Chair), DGK David Hobson, Bo Banowsky, Chris Haskins, Kevinb Eaves, Dan Hoeveler, Gerry Veasey and son Garrett Veazey, and GK Howard Harbes.  With this 9 person crew, it only took about 90 mminutes to complete the task with 13 bags and a stack of bulk trash collected.  Thanks to all for your service to the Council and our Community.   Sorry for leaving this out in last weeks Newsletter.

Council Turkey Cook last weekend was a huge success despite the wet weather.  On hand for seasoning the turkeys on Friday night were: Brothers Greg Nemec, Raul DeLeon, Raul Martinez and son Michael, and GK Howard Harbes.  Showing up early on Saturday (like 3:00AM) were Brothers Greg Nemec, DGK David Hobdson, Raul DeLeon, Tony Trevino, and Gerry Veasey to get the pits fired up and birds and breasts loaded for cooking.  PGK Marty Gibula and I showed up a little later in the morning to work thru the distribution of the smoked and fried turkeys and smoked breasts and assist in the final cooking. All was finished and cleaned up by 4:00PM with the last customer picking up about 3:45PM.  Thanks to Brother Greg for planning and procuring the meat for cooking that included a trip to Austin on Friday for the turkey breasts. Ended up selling about (20) smoked turkeys,  (10) fried turkeys and (26) tuyrkey breasts.  I sampled the breast I purchased after I got home and it was delicious.  Thanks to Brothers who cooked as well as to Brothers who purchased from your Council.

As a 2nd project Sat Nov 21st afternoon,
DGK David Hobson, Kevin Eaves, Karl Hennings, Abe Ramirez, Vince Finnesey, Chris Donatto, and Ryan Sicking along with 9 youth from Sacred Heart Faith Formation some non-Knights teamed up to clean up Parishioner Vlasta Trahan's  back yard.  Great team effort by all and a wonderful service for our church.  Also thanks to April Hobson and Marilda Hugo for your assistance with Mrs Trahan and calming her fears.

Nativity Yard Art Sales were brisk with lots of interest at the St Faustina Christmas Market and Sacred Heart Plaza Sales.  Even with the extra product produced we will likely sell out of everything this weekend - or maybe before.   Sorry if you wanted some yard art but did not get any - maybe you can help next year and insure you get what you want.  Brothers Larry, Art, and I are taking names for next years Wish List - so let us know.
November/December Service Opportunities
Tue, Nov 24th - Council Business meeting.  Come and enjoy the fellowhip with your Brother Knights.
Sun, Nov 29th- VA Hospital Visitation- Meet at Sacred Heart parking lot by the FLC at 7:15AM and we will carpool to the VA Hospital.  Will visit with hospitalized veterans and go to mass at 10:00AM in the VA Hospital Chapel.  Should be back at Sacred Heart by 12:00 Noon.  Hope to see you with us.  Next VA visitation will be Sun, Dec 20th on the same schedule as above.
Sat, Dec 5th - Miracle on Morton Street - Council will have a food booth at this event and help is needed to sell and cook food as well as wait on customers.  We will start by loading up at about 7:30AM at the KC Shed and then moving a pit and supplies over to Morton Street in downtown Richmond by the City Water Tower.  Help is needed all during the day and a sign up sheet will be available at the meeting tonight  or you can call Brother Larry Stryk (832-520-4044).
Sat Dec 5th/Sun, Dec 6th - KC BBQ Cook - Team "A" is up for this cook so please make time to support your quarterly commit to the Council. Brother Greg Nemec is going to take the lead but he will need help to make this happen. Give him a call even if you are not on the "A" Team if you are available to assist.
Thu, Dec 10th, Council Christmas Party - Sacred Heart Family Life Center- this was moved to a weekday night in hopes of improving attendance as weekends in Dec are usually packed with family and work occasions.  Santa and Mrs Claus will be available from 6:30 - 7:00PM to visit with the kids and the meal will start at 7.  Plans are to end this by 8:30 so kidos (and parents) can get home early for bed.  Council will provide a Ham and families are asked to bring a covered dish or desert.  Please bring a gift for a child (or cash/check donation) that will be given to the Pregnancy Resouce Medical Center to support their clients.
COME AND SHARE THE CHRISTMAS SEASON WITH YOUR BROTHER KNIGHTS
Sun Dec 13th - Sacred Heart Blood Drive- Come and share - or at least try to share - the gift of life with your fellow man.  Appointments are being taken after masses or show ups are always welcome.

Please look at your calendar and please schedule family and/or your time to support the Parish and Council events.
If you have any concerns or comments contact Grand Knight, Howard Harbes, at 832-567-7631(cell) or 281-342-9334(hm).
Eucharistic Adoration - Sacred Heart Chapel
Please take time to visit with our Lord in Adoration between the hours of 3:00PM and 10:00PM on Wednesdays in the Chapel.   The adoration will start at 3:00PM with the Devine Mercy Chaplet.  All are invited and any time spent will offer graces and blessings for you, your family, Sacred Heart Church, and the Holy Catholic Church.  At the close of the Adoration time, the Devine Mercy Chaplet is once more recited along with a benediction that is supported by Fathers Michael and/or Thomas.

Please consider committing to a specific time slot every week.  There are forms at the back of the Church and Chapel to sign up.  A committed time is not a requirement to attend Eucharistic Adoration.
Pro Life Activities
Pro-Life Ace Wings - Viewing the movie "Blood Money" (80 minutes) will serve as three of the five event requirements. This is a very informative documentary involving women having had abortions and others previously involved in the abortion industry who are now Pro-Life.
