June Service Opportunities

All Things Girl is being held in the CCE Building on June 22nd thru the 26th and the Council June Business Meeting on June 23rd will be held in the FLC Gym.  Brother Larry Stryk is preparing King Ranch Casserole for the meal so should be quite a treat.

Installation of Officers has been postponed until July or Aug.  With Fr Joe and Fr Greg departing Sacred Heart Church at the end of June, there will be a Farewell Reception after all masses the weekend of June 27th and 28th.  To eliminate any conflict in facilities and picking which event to attend, the Council will have the installation and awards banquet at a time in the future yet to be determined.  Sorry the change of plans

VA HOSPITAL VET Visit - Serve those who have served their country by visiting with the veterans that are hospitalized in the VA Hospital in Houston.   We will meet at Sacred Heart Church at 7:00 AM and carpool in to Houston.   There will be breakfast  at the VA Hospital Cafeteria with visitation with Vets followed by mass at 10:00AM and distribution of the Body of Christ to veterans unable to attend the mass but wishing to receive.  GREAT CHANCE TO SERVE THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED TO PROTECT OUR FREEDOM.

Please note that due to the Sacred Heart Vacation Bible School booking both the FLC and CCE Building the Council July 14th Regular meeting my be cancelled.   Working with Church Fait Formation Board  to determine if there is really a conflict and both buildings being needed for VBS.  Stay tuned for updates.

Please look at your calendar and please schedule family and/or your time to support the Parish and Council events.

Adopt A Highway Trash Pickup - 6/20

Adopt A Highway participant turn out on Sat June 20th was fantastic.  A total of 9 Knights and a College volunteer showed up and the pickup was completed in record time with 16 bags of trash being collected.  The rain late Friday night had a little water standing in the ditch but with the roadside being mowed last week, things went really well especially if you had rubber boots.  The humidity and heat added to the challenge for this old guy.

Thanks got out to Texas Tech student Will Ward and Brother Knights Tony Trevino(Chair), DGK Raul Deleon, David Hobson, Gerald Veazey, Chris Haskins, Kevin Eaves, Bo Banosky, Don Hoeveler, and the Grand Knight who all pitched in to make the event fast and successful.

PGK Brother Marty Gibula had plans to attend but the  Snooze Button Monster got the best of him.  He checked on the status of program after all had headed home.  Heart was in the right place, but the body did not cooperate.  Brother, we'll get you next time with wake up calls at 6:00AM, 6:30AM and 7:00AM.
