Last Week's Updates

As noted in last Friday's News Blast, the Adopt A Highway Trash Pickup was cancelled due to weather and flooded ditch concerns.  Looking at the calendar, this activity has been rescheduled to Sat, June 20th.   Please put this date on your  calendar and try to join the work crew.

The 2nd Phase of the Landscaping Project went off great on Monday 5/18.  The Crew composed of Br. Art Hausler, Br. Larry Stryk, Will Ward (College Freshman at Texas Tech), Br. David Hobson, Br. Michael Speich, Br. Kevin Eaves, and the GK did a dress up around the Rectory with partial fence replacement, water run-off diversion, and white stone border with flower bed weeding and mulching.  Some rose bush trimming was throw in a swell but was not on the agenda.  No rain, but there were lots of wet workers as the humidity was thick enough to cut with a knife.  THANKS TO ALL THE SUPPORT ON THIS PROJECT THAT GIVES BACK TO SACRED HEART PARISH AND THE PARISHIONERS.

Installation of Officers will take place on June 27 in the FLC Gym.  Dress at the Installation on Sat for officers to be installed is slacks, dress shirt and tie as a minimum (or a suit) with dress shoes.  ALL look nice as action is being taken to get a professional photographer to take a group and individual photos of the event.  The Council will provide the meat for the meal with sides and deserts being provided by the attending Knights.  ALL Knight Families are encouraged to attend the installation even if you are no an elected officer.  Fathers Joe and Greg as well as all Sacred Heart Deacons (all are Knights in the Council) have been requested to attend this event.  Hope to see all of you there as well.

Please look at your calendar and please schedule family and/or your time to support the Parish and Council events.

Pro Life Activities

UPDATE ON H.B. 36

The U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 36, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This important measure will ban abortions of unborn children aged 20 weeks or older, based upon substantial medical evidence that these unborn children can experience pain. With H.R. 36, Congress will exercise its authority to protect these vulnerable pre-born children.

If you contacted your representative as requested in last week's Newsletter and Council meeting, "THANK YOU". Please support our legislators who supported this bill.  Note that there are rumblings that the president has signaled he will veto this bill if it gets to his desk. Pray that he has a change of heart and mind and supports this bill that has over 65% of the populace support.  And if not, PRAY that there is support in the House and Senate to override his veto.

Pro-Life Ace Wings -

Viewing the movie "Blood Money" (80 minutes) will serve as three of the five event requirements. This is a very informative documentary involving women having had abortions and others previously involved in the abortion industry who are now Pro-Life.
