Council Motion
Vote Posting/Notification

At the March Regular Council Meeting (March 10th), a discussion was tabled by Brother Larry Stryk on the Council providing the materials and labor to provide stone borders and mulching for the 13 memorial trees on the east side of the CCE Building and 2 other memorial trees on the west side of the church.  Rework on any of the Memorial plaques as required is also included in this project. Father Joe's and Parish approval is required before any work can proceed.  Officers spent the past 2 weeks getting cost detail for this project.

At the March 24th Council Business meeting an estimate of about $100 per tree was presented to the Council for all materials.  Based on this information and the fact that this was not a budgeted item for this fiscal year, a motion was made by Brother John Burkett and seconded by Brother Raul Martinez to allocate  $1500 in funds to perform this project pending approval from Father Joe and Sacred Heart Parish.  Funds to cover this will be taken from the money raised at the Lenten Fish Fry events.

Based on this motion and the requirement that any expenditure of non budgeted items above $250 must be voted on by the council in a Council Business Meeting after notice being posted for 30 days prior, the first notice of the motion of expenditure was posted on March 25th via a KC News Blast.  A vote will be taken after discussion at the next Council Business Meeting to take place on April 28th.  Discussion on this will also occur at the April 14th Regular Council Meeting and before the vote if necessary

Please attend the April 28th Business meeting for discussion and vote on this motion for expenditure of a non budgeted item. Father Joe gave his approval for this action at the Fish Fry on March 27th.  The approval of this project will let the Council give back to Sacred Heart Parish the gifts that have been shared with us - Let us be worthy of this trust.

April/May Service Opportunities

As noted in the Calendar above, Sacred Heart Parish will celebrate Father Greg's 50th Anniversary in the Priesthood on Sat May 2nd with a Mass at 10:00AM.  There will be a 4th Degree turnout for this occasion but Council help is required at 7:00AM on Saturday to prepare and serve food for the Reception feeding about 300 well wishers in the Family Life Center Gym.  April and David Hobson (832-755-8239) are  leading this activity.   Please let them know if you can assist in this project.  Sorry for the late notice on this, but we just received confirmation from the church office of needing our assistance on Tuesday, April 21.   Short Fuse - oh yeah.

On this same weekend - May 2nd ad 3rd, Brother Raul Martinez is looking for help with the KC BBQ Cook that is supported by Cooking Team "A".   Other cooking team members and Council Members are more than welcome to join in on the community effort.  If you can't support the cook, please support by buying BBQ for lunch on Sunday from the Council.

Council Officer Election time is on us as the new fiscal year approaches.  There are several officer positions openings.  Please contact Brother Mark Stryk if you have any interest.  Officer Elections will take place at the May 26th Council Business meeting with the slate having to be formalized at the April 28th Council Business Meeting.  Please consider serving your Brothers and the Council.  Next Newsletter will have the slate of candidates.  Installation of Officers will take place on June 27 in the FLC Gym.

June Cook is a TBD at this time as far as date is concerned.  There is a schedule conflict on June 6th/7th as well as Brother Martinez having rotator cup surgery on June 5th.  Discussion will likely take place at tomorrow's Council meeting to firm up this date.

Please look at your calendar and please schedule family and/or your time to support the Parish and Council events.

If you have any concerns or comments contact Grand Knight, Howard Harbes, at 832-567-7631(cell) or 281-342-9334(hm).

Father Daughter Dance Update

Brother Rickey Constantine - PGK, Father Daughter Dance Chair has the following update on the event held this past weekend:

I believe we had a successful event.  We had a full dance floor all night.  I'm sure there were some tired sore muscles that had not been used in a while (among the dads anyway).  We received many compliments from the fathers during and after the dance.  I would very much like to thank several people for their efforts in making this event happen.  If I forgot anyone, please forgive me.  I did not mean to.

Brother Knights: Larry Stryk, Mark Stryk, Marty Gibula, Brian Gibula(DJ), Derek Junek, David Hobson.

SSMM:  Lou Ann Mowka, Lucille Kujawa, Jeannette Ries, Phyllis Stravitsch.  Thank you for woman's touch.  Everything looked wonderful.

Parishioners:  Bill & Lori Sowa, Traci Nieto Hernandez(Photographer), Debbie Stryk, Charlotte Constantine, Beth Constantine, Ann Constantine, Leigh Luis

GK Note:  Brother Rickey had a lot more info in his input on this event but for space sake, I edited to the above.  ALL SUPPORT FROM ALL ON THIS EVENT WAS MUCH APPRECIATED.
